Spaghetti Carbonara on a Student Budget.

Making pasta shouldn’t be difficult, dirty and time consuming. Well, if you pick the right recipe and adopt the right shortcuts, it will be fine! I am all for authenticity, but on a student budget (where time and money BOTH are important, you need to make a few sacrifices to maintain your sanity and bank balance. Of course, I’d love to have Julia Child’s kitchen!)

Here’s a recipe I can conjure in a jiffy. Hope you enjoy it!

Spaghetti Carbonara on a Student Budget.

  • 12 ounces Spaghetti (Barilla)
  • 2 Eggs, Beaten
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese (Kraft)
  • 3 ounces Bacon (Pancetta if feeling fancy)
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/3 cup Milk or Heavy Cream
  • 1 dash Parsley

  1. Boil the pasta in water as salty as the mediterranean.
  2. Keep the pasta on the boil and make sure its piping hot while you do these things below!
  3. Beat the eggs and the milk/cream together with the salt, pepper, parsley and parmesan cheese.
  4. Fry the bacon in a pan, drain and put aside.
  5. Now drain the extremely hot pasta into a bowl and pour the egg/milk mixture over this and mix immediately. The heat from the pasta is going to cook the mixture and coat the spaghetti in a silky, creamy sauce!
  6. Add the crispy bacon bits, garnish with some more parsley flakes and voila! Meal ready!
